Historique :	En 1522, la tradition veut que l'abbé de Martigny a fait ouvrir le tombeau de Guillaume pour plaire à des prélats italiens ; à ce moment là, devant l'état de conservation exceptionnel du corps, il aurait fait tirer un portrait du duc ; en 1562, le geôlier Pierre Hocde l'acquit et en fit une table ; Charles de Bras récupéra le panneau et le conserva ; c'est peut-être ce même panneau que l'on a copié en 1708.
