Historique :	Certains le pensent plus ancien, sa simplicité s'accordant peu avec le 11e siècle bayeusin ; jusqu'à la Révolution, il resta dans l'église du prieuré de Saint-Vigor ; tout nouvel évêque de Bayeux devait faire halte au prieuré avant d'entrer dans Bayeux ; le jour de son intronisation, chapitre, clergé et population venaient le chercher là ; le doyen du chapitre invitait le nouvel évêque à s'asseoir sur le siège de saint Vigor ; puis il lui remettait la mitre et la crosse ; cette église avait autrefois des fonts baptismaux dans le même matériau.
